Arthur, Subsequent Nudism Problems of

Ghost ‘n Goblins

Though he was a brave knight, Arthur, the hero of Ghosts ‘n Goblins and its many sequels, was also human. After years of trauma involving being stripped naked and being killed repeatedly by skeletons and the undead, no one was surprised when his post-game career was plagued by serious mental health problems.

Most troublesome were the dozens of incidents of streaking and flashing that led to 17 arrests over two years and, eventually, a prison sentence that began in 1988.

Arthur became one of the most popular prisoners in his cell block in a very short time, but even that was short-lived. He was transferred to a mental hospital in upstate New York. Arthur managed to escape, but died in a nearby forest, naked, of hypothermia and exposure.

Man, this is a grim week. First Arthur and the pilot from Choplifter die, then the creator of D&D!

There is a very high mortality rate among VG entry subjects, yes.
