Br8tal!ty

Maxwell Brodie, known by his online gaming handle, “Br8tal!ty,” took the competitive gaming world by storm during the 2006 Cyberathlete Professional League Tour when, riding a wave of endorsements, Brodie became one of the highest-ranked players without playing a single match.

Br8tal!ty’s good looks, his custom-shaped sunglasses (which he wore indoors, even!) and his “Inspired-by-Kratos” tattoos made him an instant hit among not only bicurious gamers, but among the producers of the Tour, who were desperately trying to make competitive gaming more TV-friendly.

Unfortunately for Brodie, thing fell apart when he was actually put in front of a keyboard and mouse for the first elimination round of Quake III. Brodie asked the judges if he could use an Dual Shock controller to play. It only went downhill from there, and Brodie never even got to compete against the person who was expected to be his main rival, Johnathan “Fatal1ty” Wendel.

A special-edition signed Br8tal!ty NVidia graphics card was promptly canceled as well.

Remarkably, unlike 99.99 percent of the attendees of that year’s tournament, Brodie did still manage to get laid during the tournament.
