Caveman Ugh-lympics

Caveman

The 1988 Dynamix game Caveman Ugh-lympics reinvented the “Caveman as Comedic Leading (Cro-Magnon) Man” genre all but abandoned since The Flinstones left the airwaves.

Featuring events like Firemaking, Dino Vault and Mate Toss, the game was visually cute and grammatically hilarious. By today’s standards, the graphics and gameplay were primitive, but hey, so were cavemen and caveladies.

Someone must have remembered loving this game and its scruffy characters because you can see its influence all over those Geico commercials that would eventually lead to the sitcom Cavemen. That’s all right. We’ll forgive the game for that.

If only they had based the sitcom on the Ugh-Lympics instead….
