Giant, annoying racing birds first encountered in the Japanerrific Square Enix Final Fantasy games. Since then, Chocobos have gone from mini-game staples to stars of their own adventures to be cherished by fans and ridiculed by everyone else.
The pop culture profile of Chocobos got a significant boost when, in an episode of the popular Chappelle’s Show, a menacing, pimping Wayne Brady asked, “Is Wayne Brady gonna have to Chocobo?”

It’s also worth noting that they have an amazing ability to survive in hostile environments, despite many dubious eugenics programs. For instance, on the museum in the 3D map of the PS1 game Parasite Eve, there is a banner advertising an exhibit featuring this wondrous, fleet-footed, comical flightless bastard.
And who could forget that wonderful top 40 hit: Chocobo!

I’ve never played any FF games so this is all new to me. These look like Chicken Horses. Are they bred as beasts of burden and food? If so, they are quite versatile.
