Q: What has two thumbs and has been featured in 14 games in 12 years, losing all the charm that might have at one point made it the unofficial mascot of a very successful game console, and which now, frankly, just makes us sigh every time we hear that another game in its series has been released?

So true. I remember a pair of naive, wide-eyed roommates who were agog at the likes of Crash and Lara Croft, only to see their own careers easily eclipse those of their video icons in the intervening years.

When I worked in LA our company did a flash version of a Crash Bandicoot boss level. It might have been better than the real thing. I still remember that feeling playing CB for the first time and thinking why the fuck do people like this game?

Much like 20″ rims, I think the appeal was in the spinning.

RCP — I barely remember playing it at the time, but I do remember Mario 64 and a plethora of exotic Sega Saturn titles.

I considered doing a similar entry about Lara Croft, but the term “whoring” in that context just seemed ungentlemanly.
