Cyrax, Deleted Solo From Kombat!: The Mortal Kombat Musical Intended For

Among other disappointments associated with the aborted Broadway production Kombat!: The Mortal Kombat Musical was a solo written for the robot Cyrax, which never even made it to early rehearsals.
When producers suggested that the song, “Song of Cyrax,” would stop the show dead in its tracks and that audiences would not be able to sypathize with a killer robot, the number was cut from the show’s book, much to the disappointment of Cyrax, who had already begun taking vocal programming lessons.
It is presented here, for the first time, in its entirety:
O, I’m just a robot,
Programmed to kill,
Performer, a show-bot,
Do with me what you will! They painted me yellow,
Said, “Go, kill those fellows”
Why can’t I be
Mellow.
Yellow?Tell me, old Kano,
Do you hold a grudge-o,
Let’s pour down the drain-o,
Our feud and have fudge-o!Don’t throw me in that Pit,
Well with me, it don’t sit,
Can you not see,
It’s my heart that won’t fit?A heart?
Yes a HEART!
Inside my steel ribcage,
A yearning does live,
My robotic rage,
Fights the love I must GIVE!In my prison,
O, this prison,
O, this robot does cry,
Silent tears in my circuits,
Yes, to weep I do try.I will fight to the death,
But not fatality,
It’s my soul, with each breath,
That still belongs…
To…
MEEEEEEE!Tooooooo MEEEEEE!
I am CYRAX!
I’d fly away,
If they’d just let me be,
But they can’t,
So I plead…FINISH MEEEEEEEEE!
