Operation Wolf, Heroic Dolly Work in

Heck of a job, Smitty

The arcade (and oft-ported) rail shooter Operation Wolf was so much fun to play that only a scholar of the videogaming arts would bother to take a peek behind the scenes to discover the true hero of the game, Phil “Smitty” Smithersmithton.

Smithersmithton was the unsung dolly operator who made sure that the game moved steadily to the side at a consistent speed and without shaking or bobbing.

So good was Smithersmithton’s work on the game that it was completely unheralded then or now. That’s what a good dolly operator does: makes it look easy, effortless and invisible.

Way to go, Smitty.
