Quake Live, Top Issues Seen In

quake-live

Quake Live is a fully-featured web-based port of Quake III Arena that aimed to open up first-person shooters to the masses by offering free gaming and selling advertising on the web-based client. However being web-based the program had its share of unique problems:

  • 404: Quad Damage Not Found
  • Poor CSS font stack choice: “Comic Sans”, Quake, Arial, Helvetica, Sans-Serif
  • 504: Spawn Time-Out
  • Lynx support marginal at best
  • Poor implemented telefragging routine using <blink>
  • Flash splash-damage
  • Ajax avatar builder breaks in something called Konqueror
  • 503: Out of ammo
  • Relying on form and submit button as firing solution
  • Questionable choice of team colours: #cc0000 and #990000
  • Nobody joins server until Jeffrey Zeldman does
